I was invited to a Spanish dinner party and asked to bring a dessert. I thought I would try Flan. It turned out perfect and everyone was quite pleased. These were just the right size.I initially bought these to make it easier for my husband to make baked eggs for my 96 year old mother (he has the morning shift). I thought they also might but useful to air bake eggs for egg muffin sandwiches. They are a bit too large for the muffin sandwiches because the largest muffins we can find are 4". They seem to work for air baked eggs for my mother, but I am still working on the timing to get the whites cooked without totally cooking the yolks. At any rate, I have not had any problems with the eggs sticking after I use a spray oil on them.Although I don't make creme brulee, I did, out of curiosity, look up what this dessert is and how to make it. This is a very rich an sweet dessert that I feel one of these would hold too much for one person. For both my purposes and for creme brulee, I think that a 3.5"-4" would be better for one serving. Even so, I believe these dishes would be useful for something like shrimp de Jonghe or shrimp scampi appetizers.First, the part I didn't like was the way the plates are packaged for shipment. As one of my plates arrived broken and another one chipped, so it cannot be used safely. The packing needs more padding inside and outside to prevent the porcelain from getting cracked during shipping. That is the reason for the 4 not 5 star rating.The part I do like is the shape as well as the size of this plate. The porcelain is very nice and looks and feels like expensive cookware. I find that Creme Brûlée cooks beautifully and evenly with these plates and allows one to present a very attractive desert with a restaurant like quality.I also appreciate the stickers that were very easy to remove from the plates, leaving little residue; nothing worse that having to scrub stickers to remove excess glue. The plates are very easy to clean and do well in the dishwasher.These were in perfect condition upon receipt, packaged well, with cardboard between each of the dishes. I just made my first creme brulee, and the recipe was supposed to make 6 servings (which was great, since there are 6 dishes). The recipe filled the dishes right up to the very brim, making it a little difficult to get them into the oven without spilling. But they are exactly the right depth, and are very attractive. I put them in the dishwasher afterwards, and they cleaned up nicely.I absolutely love these! Great size and very versatile, can definitely be used for things other than just creme brulee. My one and ONLY complaint is the stickers. Good god, are they put on with gorilla glue?? I will admit, they aren't as bad as they used to be, I have quite a few other pieces from HIC and at least this set has no residue. Worth the money I'd say!Despite the light weight of this fine porcelain, these creme brûlée dishes went through the high heat of the broiler without any mishaps. The neutral white fits in with any dining room dishes.Use these all the time and love them, but agree with other reviewers about the stickers. They were awful to remove. I soaked them in hot, soapy water and then used some orange essential oil to scrape the stickers and the glue off. And I mean scraped. Even with the essential oil, the glue was difficult to remove.I ordered the 5" scalloped ramekins. I received 5", highly flared ramekins with wing handles. They're almost but not quite what I wanted. I particularly wanted the advertised ramekins which had close to a 5" bottom and only minor flaring of the sides. These ramekins have closer to a 4.5" bottom with a more steeply flared side. They're close enough that I can use them. But if I'd known this was the actual product being sold, I'd have ordered different 5" ramekins from a different seller. Under normal circumstances, I'd return these and order something else.
